So hey guys, there are these awards. No not the MUBA’s. It is the SA Blog Awards. Now, you know since I’ve recently become a web celeb I feel that you guys bloody owe me something… or maybe… like yeah. Would be cool I guess.

I’ve been looking at the categories, but before you go vote for me, here’s a brief musing on them. Most Controversial Blog?

Twindie.net might not be controversial, but you know what would be ironic? Is if you guys voted for me for Most Controversial Blog and I end up winning it – because I controversially won the most controversial blog. It’s like an epic Back to the Future paradox.

Best Green Blog?

That’s easy c’mon!

And look I can win in many of the categories:

Best Controversial Blog – I look like Barack Obama, Frodo and Kevin James

Best Sports Blog – Octopus Prediction World Cup Final

Best Politics Blog – Hatin’ Hate Speech

Best Personal Blog – Message to my Future Self

Best Food Blog – Korean Nuke’em Cuisine

Best Entertainment Blog – Justin Bieber doing a Segway Getaway Fail

Best Science and Technology Blog – The Antikythera Mechanism and other OOPA

Best Music Blog – Don’t Touch me on my Studio REMIX

Best Business Blog – Solutions for BP

Best Travel Blog – Learn Na’vi for your visit to Pandora

Best Parenting Blog – Tips for your Kids who go Clubbing

But alas. I doubt many will feel the same way. I guess I’m just really sad that there isn’t a “Best Irony/Post-Modern Blog” category. Oh well, for now, please vote for me in the Best New Blog and best BLOG ever! Just click on the tiny ticket stub below, or you can do it manually if want to nominate for other categories. Remember you need to verify that you voted with the email thing on the right.

It was a late Sunday afternoon with a beautiful sunset casting its colours on chilly sharp wispy clouds and then… It was unbearable. It pains me to talk about it… but, suddenly websites started dropping like flies. Twitter was first. Then Facebook. Wam, bam! It came out of nowhere like a newfound craze for fag vampires. I tried to resuscitate the sites. F5, F5, F5 and another one pressed harder just make sure the Internet understands me… F5! BREATHE! But nothing happened. Connections were lost. Cars were still driving, but it puts to me tears thinking about the horror they’d receive at home.

For a moment, we were left with only mobile internet. The last salvation of communication. However, back at home, the bastion of our civilization was still alive, but only barely: Google. It helped us through this tough time, providing us with nourishment. Wikipedia also seemed to work. God bless knowledge. Another, horrible side-effect of this Internet Outage, was the lack of procrastination material. It felt odd. I couldn’t function without procrastination. My friends on Twitter, were mere small smudges on phone and those Facebook photos, teases with a memory of times gone by. Good times. Good times.

Now, I’m saved. Three days later. South Africa might be the final resort in 2012, but for now, it was the 90′s all over again. My condolences to those still affected. By midnight tonight order will be restored. Listen for radio broadcasts and imagine you’re in a disaster movie until then. Stay safe. May Virus Scans be with you.

Ok, so here’s the deal. Die Antwoord rocked Coachella. The reviews so far have been good. And just by looking at that vid, it seems pretty awesome. The Internet made these guys. Die Antwoord is a rare example, not only for the international scene, but also the local scene.

They came out of nowhere, they became famous due to their “hype” not the normal route of bands getting fans via live gigs and slow generation of word of mouth. Die Antwoord skipped the queue, but to the international stage. The anticipation for live acts will definitely maintain them for a while, but will they keep their “weird zef freshness”?

District 9 – The Review
by | Movies | September 1, 2009

district-9-trailerSo after two weeks of torture I finally managed to see the most hyped film of the year. Coming into movie I hated having such a subjective view on it: rave reviews, bombastic claims, South Africa etc, yet this probably is the first movie that has ever justified its hype for me. Before I continue, I warn thee of a potential spoiler alert. So please refrain from reading further if you’ve not seen the movie. If you haven’t… shame on you! Go see it! NOW!

District 9 – The Irony
by | Movies | August 17, 2009

district-9-trailerThis iconic image from the new sci-fi sensation, District 9, seems all handy and dandy, right? Amazing even! The sense of grandeur among the dirty townships is a stark contrast… yeah yeah yeah, this movie sounds awesome! Twitter can’t shut-up about it. It’s making me so jealous.
