Friends, family members and coins flips all stood up to the game, but Paul took this one. You might’ve predicted Spain to win, but you’re not an octopus.

I must say the setup for the final was a classic. Brother Future who predicted Netherlands and Calamari Paul who went for Spain. I must come clear here, I was rooting for the Chinese guy from the future, ’cause I like time travelling. I kept waiting for his score of 2:1 to realize, but never came to being. Perhaps we screwed up the timeline by giving away too much.

Alas, Calamari Paul took this one fair and square, but some skeptics have already claimed some inconsistencies in Paul’s game. Apparently he seems to like yellow and some concerns of horizontal shapes have put Calamari Paul’s predicting abilities under suspicion. Was he just lucky? Or does he follow some silly regime that fooled us all? Did Calamari Paul use his influence within the Psychic Octopus Guild to bribe FIFA into match fixing the games for him? He is after all Calamari Paul.

For now, I’m distraught that Brother Future left me. I believed man. I really believed. My faith in Chinese people from the future has been broken.

Off the field, there is another battle going on. The battle for prediction seer supremacy. In one corner we have Paul the Octopus. He screwed over the Germans in their semi-final, but so far has a good track record. His predictions for the final: Spain to take the cup, and his other hurdle, the 3/4th playoff puts Germany ahead of Uruguay. Good Good. That’s all dandy. Good on you Calamari Paul.

Now in the other corner we have Chinese guy from the future. If you haven’t heard of him. He is big in the Chinese interweb-o-spheres now. He made a forum post on Baidu on June 13, proclaiming how the World Cup will end. He predicted Netherlands will beat Spain in the final 2:1 and that Sneijder will score one of the goals. That’s some precise predicting yo. Gotta give to the brother from the future. He is already on track pretty much. He says further, that after his post he will come back and people will believe him. Go bro!

So who’s side are you on? This epic battle will only have one winner. The octopus already has a track record, but this Chinese guy predicted the end on June 13. Calamari Paul or Brother Future? Time will tell.

IFOs short for Identified Flying Objects have been kept secret by the government for years. Since the first Wright Brothers flight, this underground movement starting picking up. Just under a decade later reports starting filing in of IFOs across the globe. Especially during the World Wars.

A war veteran says, “I knew what I saw. It was this gosh darned The Friedrichshafen G.III”. He reportedly reported it to the government, but they shrugged it off. “It’s a conspiracy I tell you. The government knows about these IFOs, but no-one wants to tell us why they keep it secret”.

An anonymous person contacted me when I started doing my investigation. He (I know it is a man, ’cause there was a mix of beer and beef jerky smell to the paper) claims that he once phoned the government reporting an IFO, and they replied with “Oh yeah, that’s just the local airshow”. The anonymous person knew something was up, and started probing for more, the government responded with a shocking revelation, “Well, it is the annual local airshow. There are bi-planes and gyrocopters and anything really. You should go”.

The man was taken aback by the hospitality, he took the chance to get into the IFO conspiracy and asked how much it cost, the government municipal worker replied, “Oh, I don’t know… Sorry,” and hung up the phone. This is telling evidence that they are trying cover up the IFO conspiracy.

A man called Vincent Con tells a story of how he, as a young boy, saw big IFOs flying above his town. “They were huge, I tell you, with blinking lights and everything”. A few years later he went to the local international airport to spy on the IFOs. He explains, “It was terrifying, there were people everywhere, but every time I started to really get a glimpse of the big IFOs, they flew off. The government must’ve known I was there, so I decided to leave promptly”.

IFOs remain a very obscure topic, even among hardcore conspiracy theorists. IFOs are a fact, and people should become aware of it. I hope I did my duty.

After a long look at Gizmodo’s article/controlled leak, I’ve come to conclusion that the iPhone 4G is in fact a weak mirror. I watched this video over and over trying to figure out what the 4G actually does. Where did Apple go wrong? They were on the cusp of innovative technology, now they’ve taken vanity to the next level. It’s like the thing doesn’t do anything, it’s not even big enough for a proper coaster.

Apparently, Gizmodo, paid $10,000 for it… hahaha. That’s an expensive mirror dudes, totally screwed on the deal, hahaha… classic fail. Anyhoo, now, the iPad, that’s a different story. Period.

[Disclaimer: I'm lying. The real reason why I won't buy an iPhone is 'cause I don't have the cash]

Back in July Die Burger (local newspaper) published an article quoting a top detective on the signs of Satanism. This was in response to that kid who knifed the kids in school. Harmse I think was the kid’s surname, but it’s not relevant. However, the funniest thing was the signs that the detective prescribed to the public.

The detective said this, “Parents must be on the look out when their children start lighting candles in skulls, drawing pentagrams on their bedroom floors and wearing only black clothes”.

I literally LOL’d in real life. I couldn’t believe it. I can only imagine a mom walking into her child’s room, “Hi, son! Whatcha doing there? Oh, reading some books, nice fella. By the way clean up that wax near the skulls, it’s messing up the pentagram on the carpet.”

I can understand some concerns, but really pentagrams on floors and skulls with candles. That’s not normal. Not that it’s necesarrily signs of Satanism, anything like that would just be weird. What’s next? Twindie.net prescribes that, “parents be on the look out for goat heads hanging from the ceiling above a pit of mangled bodies and screaming babies in the closet.”

2012 is just around the corner. For those not familiar with the 2012 theories here it is in a brief “omg why haven’t heard of this before” manner: MAYANS, PLANETS COLLIDING, NEW SPIRITS, TRANSCEDENCE, DOOMSDAY. If you’re still not clear, go Google 2012. However, the end of the world opens up some concerns. Who will rise as the leader of the new world?

The Institute for Human Continuity has been established just for this very problem. They are on the look out for future leaders that will sign up to complete some challenges and in the end be voted on.

This all in all sounds like a genius idea. At least someone’s looking out for humanity. Alas, if you actually Googled 2012 you would’ve realised that this is part of viral marketing campaign for the movie 2012, based on you guessed it: DOOMSDAY!

However, marketing campaign or not, who do you reckon would stand up for humanity when a planet collides with Earth or some alien race claims back its resources. It’s a much bigger question that global snoring warming. Whatever the result of 2012, end or not, I’m still throwing an end of the world party on December 21st 2012. Whomever fills the shoes of the future president will have to be able to deal a massive worldwide hangover.

I love dreaming: in bed or in class. The location does not matter. The fact that you go to a completely incoherent fantasy world without even leaving your current location is so awesome. However, sometimes the dream is annoying and pisses you off once you arrive in the real world. Here’s some reasons why dreaming is annoying!

1) The I-can’t-get-to-my-destination dream

This kind of dream frustrates the hell out of me. Doesn’t matter what I do, I just can’t get to my desired location. It usually involves me going to class. Firstly, my time of departure is already too late to get there on time. Then somehow upon walking to class, I meet someone and then we have to take a ride with them to their place. Then we can’t find it, or go on really whack path. This weekend, I dreamt I wanted to go see District 9 again, but for really stupid reason I had to mark tests for a teacher. The teacher couldn’t give clear instructions! Finally after marking the tests I got to the movies after running through a bio-lab, but managed to stumble into a really long cue. ARGHHHH! It never ends. I just can’t get to my destination. FFS.

2) The hazy dream

I don’t know how many people experience this, but sometimes I have dreams where my eyes are half closed; so everything is extremely hazy! Almost like having a glass bottle in front of your eyes. Throughout the dream I keep trying to open my eyes or try and focus them, ’cause I can’t see properly. It frustrates me immensely. Doesn’t matter how awesome the content is, I just can’t see it. ARGH!

3) The wet dream

Ok, everyone knows this one. The dream content is awesome, but the result is not so awesome. Jizzing in your pants ain’t cool, well except if you’re these guys.

4) The it-felt-so-real dream

Oh man these are just annoying. Sometimes you dream of great things, great presents, great delights, yet when you make up and all you see is your dirty desk all you can do is give a massive groan. My most memorable frustration was once getting a new Batman videogame when I was child. It was awesome! I played the game to bits and every afternoon felt like the best day of my life… however when I woke up Batman was no more.

5) The nightmare

Waking up in a cold sweat to your liking? Nightmares are plentiful, but to be honest, I haven’t had a good solid nightmare since primary school. My most memorable one was where I walked down our old home’s long hall and these spider like monsters came out the floorboards. Since then, I’ve only had three immense strong dreams that have a very prominent feeling of unrest. Almost like sensing pure evil in the dreams. Strange though is that these three dreams are recurring: the same location and feeling, but sometimes I do different things. It’s an extremely dark hall with two corridors. The place where I’m standing is lighted, but once I venture further into the tunnels, I become extremely uncomfortable, sensing and hearing vile “demons” in my presence. Yes, yes, read some religious parable in there somewhere. It doesn’t bother me, but I feel very vulnerable when I wake up. Only lasts for a few minutes then I go back to sleep again.

Do you have any other kinds of annoying/frustrating dreams? What’s your worst nightmare?

My head hurts. Yes, yes it does. Look at the picture above! So mind bogglingly “urgh” inducing craziness. I love these things as my mind always try to wonder how these paradoxes work. Somehow, I want to find the start or the end, or I just want to keep going to see how far my brain power takes me.

Here is some more crazy paradoxes I’ve could think of. Please, if you’ve got some more add them!

Fear of fears

Time travel to stop time travelling

Talk about language using language

Being sure about being unsure

Hollywood is escpecially fond of time travel. It’s probably the ultimate paradox “brain-numbing” ploy out there. Yes, yes, you get different time theories that can easily explain the movie, but most movies don’t explain it! Often leading to the average movie-goer throwing a blind eye towards the paradoxes. Every time such a lame time travelling paradox arises I quickly point it out to my family and friends, often to blank stares of “just watch the movie FFS”. It is a total pet-hate of mine.

By the way, I would love to one day meet someone having a fear of fears. Anyone know such a person? They’d be a constant nervous wreck. Some more Wikipedia paradoxes. My favourite one is the intentionally left blank page.

Looks strange doesn’t it? It’s probably some artifact from some sunken modern ship right? Am I totally misleading you now, but you want to be right? Anyhoo, enough with the arbitrary questions. This, mechanism picture is in fact an ancient Greek astrology thing-a-majig, but here’s the twist in the tale! It was made 150-100 BC!

The Antikythara Mechanism was able to predict astrology patterns way way way before Star Wars. Prof. Edmunds from Cardiff Uni says this:

This device is just extraordinary, the only thing of its kind. The design is beautiful, the astronomy is exactly right. The way the mechanics are designed just makes your jaw drop. Whoever has done this has done it extremely carefully…in terms of historic and scarcity value, I have to regard this mechanism as being more valuable than the Mona Lisa.

The Antikythera Mechanism falls into the category of Out-of-Place (OOP) artifacts. Artifacts that don’t fit chronologically, geographically or are just darned weird. These artifacts fascinate me, because my over-active imagination starts sounding like a red flashing, walls caving, spaceship 2 minutes before destruction. What if these objects were left by aliens, time travellers or made by some long lost civilization?

There are some more interesting OOP artifacts. Read this epic Wikipedia page and then when you’re done, Google your favourite one, one of mine is the Baigong Pipes, and then revel in the conspiracy sites and their absurdity. Much fun!

P.S. – More on Antikythera Mechanism here.
