I’m sorry I just couldn’t leave yet. This is too good, but I feel like the silly band going backstage, waiting for an encore and then coming back on stage. My apologies. I said I was coming back only next year. Anyhoo. Check that video. Horrible? Right? No… really it’s horrible right? This got me thinking. Say you have a house party or jig going on and you want the people to leave, what do you play?
For a Google Wave desperation we had to write a song about: “Boris the eccentric Bolivian botanist who inexplicably loses his beloved wife Beatrice during a game of Hide and Seek and after years of mourning this loss eventually finds solace in goat farming”. Lyrics to follow.
On September 14 Muse finally released their highly anticipated fifth studio album, The Resistance. The trio of rockers hailing from the UK, Matthew Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme had become household names in the alternative rock industry for their consistent boundary-breaking albums and live performances.
Muse and Silverchair are both one of my favourite bands. They’ve both released 5 studio albums. I remember when Young Modern came out. There were cries of “sell outs”, “jumped the shark”, “its too poppy!”, “where is the old silverchair?”, etc.
Now that “The Resistance” is to hit tomorrow, I’m hearing cries of “lol, silly!”, “poppy”, “where is the old OOS muse?”, etc.
While is everyone is mourning the death of DJ AM, the smug asshole Noel Gallagher quit the most arrogant band Oasis. When they graced our presence at Coke Zero Fest this year I was glad to at least see them once, but they unfortunately were way past their prime.
It was a lazy sunday afternoon in the barren countryside. I was lazying in front of the TV after a family feast. Bored, I switched to the blues music channel. I had an epiphany. It was so good. I had to get myself some more blues. Not being entirely familiar with the genre, I decided to go at it through more modern bands, in the form of garage blues. I got myself the latest Black Keys album (Attack and Release). So being a newly converted garage blues fan, I was happy to hear that The Pretty Blue Guns, a local band, from Stellenbosch, South Africa, were to release an album.

While the whole of Stellenbosch was practically sick or hysteric about swine flu, nothing stopped the student bravado to jam it out to one massive gig in Stellenbosch Town Hall: Die Heuwels Fantasties, Van Coke Kartel, aKING and Fokofpolisiekar or collectively known as VanFokKingTasties. Nine guys, 4 bands and many many guest appearances resulted in one fantastic aural orgy.
Ok, if you’re still living in a cave, I’m breaking the news to you. Michael Jackson is dead. He died yesterday due to a cardiac arrest. A sad day indeed, but this post is not about Michael Jackson, but really about how you leave a legacy. (Ok, it is about MJ)
See what I did there? I made you believe that a member of the Decepticon clan is in fact releasing music. If you don’t know who Starscream is, Transformer or otherwise, then the clever headline failed. However, the Starscream I’m referring to is the chiptune duo gigging up the New York circuit.
