Alas, blogging on Twindie.net will shortly resume when the inspiration comes back. I have however momentarily stolen Twindie.net’s Internet Category and moved them over a new home. Social Smocial. Like to be more niche and like. We vote for #TeamPete just as an FYI.
At Social Smocial I write a lot more features on my favourite past time, the web and social media. But I assure you they are just as funny and perhaps a bit more insightful. Simon joins me there too. He said he will write humourous interviews with startups. Let’s hope he gets there. Anyhoo, for now I hope you find Social Smocial just as welcoming, like c’mon how awesome is it to find sites that you can leech off other people? Pretty spiffin’.

Read this in a very heavy American accent: You might remember me from such blog posts such as Die Antwoord Gig or Don’t Touch Me on My Studio Remix. My name is Niel and recently I’ve been in the newspaper and on a really popular site. So, am I a famous blogger now? Do I have mad influence?
I reckon I need to go a little bit more RESPECT from other gangsta bloggers or go “ride” with them in the web-hood. I’m having an existentialist blogger fame crisis. Who am I? When am I famous? Will I be the next Mashable? Or even Hipsterrunoff? I probably need some endorsement deals first.
I reckon you only reach fame, when people get excited about your sex tape, or maybe post explicit pictures of you on PerezHilton.com.
When does one really become a “blogger”? If you post one post, are you a blogger? Or do you need to be like working “blogger”? Pay your server and other expenses like food and drinks, so I can be like 2Oceansvibe, probably South Africa’s only legit “blogger”. Time will tell. For now, I’m ending this blog post, ’cause I’m flying to LA to meet Zooey Deschanel for a coffee.

An odd thing happened the other day. I got contacted by an alien. Here’s the story: He/She/It emailed me asking if it could contribute posts at Twindie.net. I was like… what? The thing is, he wants practical experience blogging, because he is doing his thesis on human Internet culture. Why he chose my blog, I wouldn’t know… he didn’t explain why… I however welcome new bloggers joining Twindie.net. Simon, ain’t posting here anymore, so I guess why not let him post here. His name is Tebmud, but he has adopted a local Internet slang name, Teh Mud. He was serious as well.
I think having Teh Mud here will be a good way to expand Twindie.net, but also improve intergalactic relations. His posts will usually involve trying to analyse the Internet and Blogging culture. Bless him if he fails. He is From Space nonetheless. Say hello to Teh Mud. The time difference is a bit off, but he will post some blogs very soon.

Ah, sorry for the lack of posting. The reasons: exams, holiday, servers and leprechauns. I’m greeting you and this blog until next year, where I’ll try and be like some blog monster. Hopefully, Simon, will join in some more posting attempts at posting. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but it’s the time for wishes and all things good right?
But before I sign off, have you ever wondered how funny it would be if spices could talk? They would revolt and sue the earth and major supermarket chains for using their name in vain. Seasoning will become a thing of the past, or still on your eggs and bacon, but this time of year will have to change to either “Seasoning(™) Greetings” or something completely different like Christmas.

Welcome to a new Twindie.net regular. I like people. The act of getting to know someone is so exhilarating. Thus, Twindie.net devised 8 questions to ask cool people. These questions will remain basically identical for each participant. First up is ExMi. She’s quite the Twitter aficionado and has two great blogs: Expensive Mistakes and Cheap Thrills and A Bad Mommy Blog. It might not always be my cup of tea, but some of her anecdotes are quips are fun! Oh, and her favourite band is Breaking Benjamin and she likes nerds.
1) If you had to explain to others what your site is about by only using a your hands and five words (own choice) how would you do it?

2) Have you ever used your site in an alternative way other than its intended purposes? Persuade people? Brag about yourself? Blackmail people? Pick up people at bars? Well this is asuming that your site is not about persuading, bragging and blackmailing.
Does bragging about my Kid all the time count? I don’t believe I’ve ever used my site for something it wasn’t intended for. I’ve never blackmailed anyone with it, as far as I know, and to date, I’ve never blackmailed anyone yet. Mostly because I have a crap memory, and I forget what I’m supposed to blackmail them for/with. I’ve never used my blog to pick up men, not even in bars. I used to use myspace for that, back in my single days. As lame as that might sound.
Myspace was a virtual take-out menu for a single girl with a ravenous appetite and a love of variety. I was always busy with exams and assignments and partying with my friends and shopping and drinking and recovering from hangovers – who had time to meet guys the normal ways? Not me.
3) What’s your worst fear and favourite memory?
My worst fear (pre-Kid) was heights. Couldn’t climb a ladder, wouldn’t dream of climbing a chair and cant go on any of the rides at Gold Reef City.
Now, my worst fear is something happening to my Kid and I’m not there to prevent it. Something happening to my Kid that would mean me losing him.
4) If I say “baby” you say…?
Baby love. There is absolutely nothing like baby love.
5) Is there any question you would like to ask yourself in this interview? If so, please answer it. (Don’t post the question).
Yes, I have a *thing* for words. My favourite word of all time is probably “pertinent”. This is probably one of those you-had-to-be-there jokes, but amongst my friends in undergrad school, it was the running joke to use the word “pertinent” as many times as was humanly possible in answering exams/writing assignments/writing legal opinions/making case notes/whatever.
We were all in the top 10% of the class.All the undercover smart motherfuckers that took everyone by surprise. We bunked classes, sat in the back and slept, partied hard and looked like the slackers. Except we were the closet nerds. The ones who worked hard. Worked smart. The ones that were smart. And had silly insider jokes about words and phrases and grammar. “Pertinent”. I once managed to use that word 44 times in a 16page exam answer.
You could always tell when one of us had managed to use that word for the umpteenth time in an exam, because there was always a snigger or a snort like it was the first time all over again.
