Over-active Imagination

I want to how common this phenomenon is: an over-active imagination. I saw this submission on I’m So Nerdy:

I’m so nerdy, I imagine I have force powers when I walk through an automatic sliding door.

It got me thinking: I do that too! Even many other things that involve me living in a world not my own. Mostly I do it unconsciously, but sometimes when thinking retrospectively it is a little odd.  Here are some more examples. Continue reading “Over-active Imagination” »

District 9 – The Irony
by | Movies | August 17, 2009

district-9-trailerThis iconic image from the new sci-fi sensation, District 9, seems all handy and dandy, right? Amazing even! The sense of grandeur among the dirty townships is a stark contrast… yeah yeah yeah, this movie sounds awesome! Twitter can’t shut-up about it. It’s making me so jealous.

Limerick Monday #2
by | Blogging | August 17, 2009

There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, “It is just as I feared!–
               Two Owls and a Hen,
               Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!”

Limerick Monday
by | Blogging | August 11, 2009

From this day on every Monday will be Limerick Monday. You might ask, “But Twindie.net it’s Tuesday!?” Yes, yes, but yesterday was a public holiday, thus this here is to brighten the start of the week. Most of the limericks will be written by other folk, but you never know I might write some myself.

There was an Old Man with a gong,
Who bumped at it all the day long;
But they called out, "O law!
       You're a horrid old bore!"
So they smashed that Old Man with a gong.

I had to get myself some more blues. Not being entirely familiar with the genre, I decided to go at it through more modern bands, in the form of garage blues. I got myself the latest Black Keys album (Attack and Release). So being a newly converted garage blues fan, I was happy to hear that The Pretty Blue Guns, a local band, from Stellenbosch, South Africa, were to release an album.

VanFokKingTasties Gig Review
by | Music | August 3, 2009

While the whole of Stellenbosch was practically sick or hysteric about swine flu, nothing stopped the student bravado to jam it out to one massive gig in Stellenbosch Town Hall: Die Heuwels Fantasties, Van Coke Kartel, aKING and Fokofpolisiekar or collectively known as VanFokKingTasties. Nine guys, 4 bands and many many guest appearances resulted in one fantastic aural orgy.
