To My Future Son/Daughter
by | Life | June 21, 2009

Darth VaderDear Future Son/Daughter,

today is the day that you celebrate me having sex with your mom and in effect bringing you forth into this world. Before that you were nothing, perhaps an idea in my head, like now. However, now you celebrate my devotion to keeping you alive in this tumultous place called Earth. Before I continue, I would like to say, this day is not for you to celebrate me, but in fact me to say thanks for making me part of your life. +1 for generativity in fact.

Perhaps you’ll make realize my purpose in this world, cause for now, excuse my blatantness, I see no chance for you in this world. This might totally be nihilistic, but what am I leaving for you? What is our generation creating for you? The world we know now is changing so rapidly what is existing now, will be unfamiliar to you. Yes, I can still fathom the idea of listening to radios when television was not invented. Those are the stories my parents tell me, and it makes sense, but will my life make sense to you. Thus, I apologize for my reckless behaviour and ignorance of the future.

However, this is where I can’t wait for you, to prove my stubborn traditionalist mindset wrong. I’m living a time where the Internet is taking over our lives. I’d hate to yearn the “good ole days” where we still had beers in the pub. Please, make me part of the now. Make me your father. Not your parent. Teach me to live like I live now: for the present. Like most parents they nay-say the current era. It’s always like this, but this is not how I want to live. I’m embracing new technology now; I’m embracing new ideas now; I’m embracing new people now. Don’t let me lose that, just because I might think my golden days are gone. I hope your youthful spirit rubs of on me.

Regards,

Your future dad

Just come alone and gather round
Till your gonna shake up your aim
Cause one day son this will all be yours
I’m sorry for this mess. ~ Fightstar – One Day Son This Will All Be Yours.
