sun_apocalypse1500For all the Twitter geeks out there, you will most probably know of the Twitpocalypse. It trended like crazy for the past few days. It details the failure of Twitter applications due to a reach of an integer. It is similiar to the Y2K bug, and phenomenon. People were going crazy over nothing really. Yes, it was a concern for the developers and indeed some apps were affected, but c’mon the whole hype was just ridiculous. Any end of time or apocalypse scenario will always be overhyped. It’s like an inherent trait of destruction. The end times is forever upon us… oooooohga booga boooga. Are you scared yet? No, probably not, ’cause life will most likely just continue like it previously did. Most religions talk of a “end of time”, when the believers will be saved from damnation and the non-believers will be left to kill each other and die or go to hell, but rather it acts more like the carrot hanging in front of a donkey, egging them on.

The next ‘biggest’ doomsday on the calendar is December 21st, 2012. Many things culminate on that day, including the end of the current Mayan Calendar. It would be cool if something did happen. Something really unexpected: aliens, spirits from space or a changeover into another dimension. The odds of anything happening is really small actually, and just like the other doomsday predictions, nothing will happen. However, this will not stop me from having an end of the world party on the 20th. You’re all invited!
