Look at all those handsome school blighters. A good girlfriend of mine (not that girlfriend, but girl friend) once said she misses the school uniforms, they made us look sexy. Yes, that’s me and my friends on our last day of school. I’m the one the middle between my two friends sitting, but c’mon school uniforms sexy? Yes, only on Japanese girls thank you. I, for one, am glad to be rid of the school uniform.

However, before this digresses into a post about school uniforms, I would like to reflect on my high school life. I was in an all-dude school which was pretty highly regarded in the country, never mind the area. It was a spiff school where people played a lot of rugby and groped each other in homo-erotic bravado. However, that’s unfortunately where it went awry. I wasn’t the patriotic rugby beer guzzling supporting type. Me and friends talked about Magic: The Gathering and World and Warcraft during breaks, rather than how we’re going to get people psyched for the game this weekend. We stayed at our break spot throughout high school, not even leaving it for the coveted Matric grounds.

We were a bunch of Inbetweeners and nerds. Even having the lead role in the school’s musical (Grease) in my senior year, didn’t garner me much attention. People also frowned  upon the choir, which I also braved. In a school of 1200 boys only an odd 16 people sang in the choir. How epic fail really.

However, I don’t regret school at all. It might not have been the most awesomest of school, it was probably the best thing to happen to me at such an age. I keep hearing stories of people in co-ed schools. All their parties and shenanigans. In an all-dude school this was non-existent, but because of the opposite sex not being present every day, it made me become the person I really wanted to be. It’s great. Yes, I didn’t get much action, but alas that’s why University is there for.
